Mentors will have the opportunity to serve as moderators on panels at IBC and join several events during WIB weekend (October 4-6), including the Make it Happen magazine launch. Get Involved: Become a City Rep for HUWIB

We’re looking for volunteers to be an HUWIB Alumni City Rep in New York, LA, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Boston. What is a City Rep? City Reps help us access and maintain our HUWIB Alumni Network in major cities. The responsibilities are very manageable: help us spread the word about relevant events, plan 3-4 low-key networking events per year, and provide feedback to the board about what you and other HUWIB Alumni would like to see from the Board! It’s a great way to stay involved with the HUWIB organization without being a taxing commitment on your busy life. What if I don’t see my city?  If you’d like to start a City Reps program in your city, let us know – we’re always open to expanding the program where there is demand.

Recap: 8th Annual Intercollegiate Business Convention

Thank you very much to those who attended the 8th Annual Intercollegiate Business Convention on September 29th. The event featured 7 Career Tracks and 100+ outstanding speakers, including Donna Karan and Sarah Robb O’Hagan as keynote speakers. A special thanks to our Alumni who volunteered to be panelists, moderators, and/or conduct resume reviews/mock interviews for your much valued time and effort. We would also like to thank those of you who joined us for lunch and who came out for drinks at Towne following the Convention! We hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we did! Meet our new SF City Reps!

We are excited to announce four new City Reps for San Francisco: Lindsey Barnes (’07): Lindsey has worked at P&G in brand management, BCG SF in management consulting, graduated from Stanford GSB with a degree in general management. Nicole Villasin (’06): Nicole has been with Bloomberg for the past 5 years in various capacities, and is currently a strategic account manager looking after the largest buyside accounts on the West Coast. Winnie Yeung (’08): Winnie is a Consultant at Dalberg Global Development Advisors, where she focuses on applying private sector approaches to assist public and private sector organizations working to advance economic development in developing countries. Recap: March Personal Branding Workshop

On March 22, almost 40 undergraduates and alumni gathered at Harvard for Get Savvy: Power Up Your Personal Brand, a speaker-led workshop and networking reception. The event was co-hosted by HUWIB and HUWIB Alumni, in collaboration with HBS’ WSA.  Speaker Sandy Lish, Principal and Founder of The Castle Group, helped attendees understand simple ways to make the most of their strengths to create business opportunities, sharing: Practical techniques for evaluating and enhancing your personal brand Ways to use third-party creditability to promote your brand Steps to conduct successful networking at events and build a strong personal network Attendees put their newly-acquired personal branding and networking knowledge to the test during an informal reception to round out the evening. Thanks to all who attended, and a special thank you to Sandy Lish!
