The 2016 WIBternship will have its introductory meeting on Tuesday, September 6th in Emerson 305. Any Harvard undergraduates interested in joining WIB should attend!

The 2016 New York Career Exploratory Trip brought twenty women on an all-expenses paid trip to New York City so that our membership could explore different industries and career pathways. Companies visited include Deutsche Bank, Western Asset Management, Vogue, JuicePress, Bank of America, and Centerview Partners. Additionally, WIB girls got the chance to bond over a Broadway play -- An American in Paris!
On April 5th we held our first HUWIB Town Hall Meeting. It was open to all students, but mandatory for WIB associates and executive board. The purpose of the meeting was to inform students about WIB and how they can get involved. Each member of the executive board shared her vision for her committee and students were informed how to become involved at all levels of WIB. We also had a recruiting workshop on how to navigate the internship search and provided information about the new early recruiting process. Professional headshots and resume reviews we offered, as well.
During the first weekend of April, we attended the inaugural Society of Women Leaders retreat at Stanford University. The purpose of this organization, co-founded by Stanford and Harvard Women in Businesses, is to create a network of the top women leaders of the world's elite universities in order to share experiences and help with WIB organizational development. At the retreat, we gained valuable insight into what it means to work in the world famous Silicon Valley by engaging in once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including dinner with executives at Canvas Ventures, a technology-driven venture capital firm, and a panel and tour at the headquarters of Facebook, one of the most influential businesses in the world.
On March 31st, we were honored to host the Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios. Treasurer Rios is passionate about supporting women in business and has been a staunch supporter of diversity issues both at Harvard and in her professional career. Treasurer Rios spoke to the undergraduate community regarding her experience overcoming barriers to achieve goals and the importance of women advocating for themselves. She addressed issues of economic recovery and the goals of the Treasury Department, such as putting a woman on the ten-dollar bill.
In early March, WIB had its annual Committee Retreat in Rhode Island; it was great getting to bond with fellow committee members, discuss ways in which WIB can improve our organization for the future, and spend time with an incredible group of women!
Join us as we congratulate our WIBterns on the completion of their WIBternship and officially welcome them to WIB!
