HUWIB's largest annual event is the Intercollegiate Business Convention - a two-day long conference introducing young women to business movers and shakers and new career fields. Our 4th Annual IBC - "Business Without Boundaries" - will take place on October 3-4, 2008 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. The convention's mission is to bring together undergraduate women with an interest in business to share ideas, build business skills, and meet industry leaders. Many women come out of IBC with not only a host of new friends from different schools and universities, but also valuable business connections to help them find internships and post-college jobs!
Who Should Attend?
- Dynamic undergraduate women with an interest in business: The convention is targeted at women who have demonstrated ability to take leadership on their own college campuses, and with the eventually take on positions of leadership in the business field.
- Younger and older students: This year's programming is specifically targeted to cater to both the young student looking at careers in business for the first time, and to the seasoned upperclassman ready to dig deeper and gain industry-specific skills.
- HUWIB plans on hosting more than 700 of the best and brightest female undergraduates from 30+ top universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, UPENN, Stanford, MIT, and Columbia at our convention. This year for the first time groups of international undergraduates from Colombia to Germany will be attending as well!
Why Should I Attend?
Unlike most business conferences open to undergraduates, our convention will not limit itself to a panel based format which may prevent attendees from being able to learn actively. This year's convention will feature interactive presentations from leading companies in marketing, consulting, finance and many more business fields; instruction from Harvard Business School professors on emerging markets and current business trends; and career skills and communication techniques workshops; a career fair; a Harvard Business School visit and business school admissions workshop; and a networking reception. Our Day 1 reception will feature a delicious dessert buffet, and on Day 2 breakfast and lunch will be served. Please see our agenda page for a more detailed breakdown of the conference's timeline!
